Therapy for Women
Jessica Smith is an LCSW in the state of Illinois with more than 17 years in the field. Jessica earned her Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University and now is an adjunct professor for the university supporting perspective social workers.
Jessica's passion is supporting young adults and women as they navigate through life’s transitions and all of the tough feelings that come along with them. Exploring life as a new adult, becoming a parent, navigating relationships, facing the challenges in our community… these changes bring along complex feelings and it is okay to ask for support. New parents may find themselves struggling to support their children and themselves as parenthood finds them unraveling through memories of their own negative childhood experiences.
Jessica has worked with children and families in foster care, residential treatment, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, public and therapeutic day schools which aides in her ability to empathize with the hard stuff that parents experience today. As a mother who has experienced struggles with infertility and loss, is working to break generational cycles, and understands the challenges that relationships and communication can bring, Jessica can relate to families who are having difficulty navigating the hard parts of life.
Jessica specializes in perinatal mood disorders including postpartum depression and anxiety, parent coaching, suicide and self-harm prevention, body safety/sexual abuse prevention training, anxiety, depression, trauma, navigating the world of special education and working through life transitions.
